Dear Ms.:

Your appeal of March 28, 2003, was received and referred to the appropriate professional concerning the Gonorrhea link that goes directly to the gonorrhea lab. We concur with the recommendation to make the Gonorrhea link on the Health Topics page link directly to the Division of STD Prevention (DSTDP) gonorrhea fact sheet (http://www.cdc.gov/nchstp/dstd/Fact_Sheets/FactsGonorrhea.htm). However, we do not think it is necessary to change the name of the link to the Division of AIDS, STD, and TB Laboratory Research (DASTLR) web page from "Gonorrhea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae)". The gonorrhea link has been renamed "Gonorrhea" and now goes directly to the DSTDP's Gonorrhea Fact Sheet.

We appreciate your comments and concerns and hope that the Gonorrhea fact sheet is more assessable to the public.

Sincerely,

Dixie E. Snider, M.D., M.P.H.
Assistant Surgeon General
Associate Director of Science
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
