Timeline of Major OCAS Events for 2003

Establishing the foundation for conducting dose reconstructions as required under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) has been an important and busy time for our Office. Major events of our dose reconstruction program for 2003 are listed below.

2003 Events

March Second notice of proposed rulemaking on the procedures for designating classes of employees as members of the Special Exposure Cohort (SEC) published in the Federal Register for public comment

Bethlehem Steel Corporation Site Profile: Basis for Development of an Exposure Matrix for Bethlehem Steel Corporation approved

April Public comment period for the second notice of proposed rulemaking extended

May Public comment period for the second notice of proposed rulemaking on the procedures for designating classes of employees as members of the SEC closed

Number of draft dose reconstruction reports sent to claimants exceeds 100

July Savannah River Site Profile: Technical Basis Document for Savannah River Site to be Used for EEOICPA Dose Reconstructions approved

August Number of ORAU contract staff in support of dose reconstruction: 300

Number of draft dose reconstruction reports sent to claimants exceeds 500

September Hanford Site Profile: Occupational Medical Dose section approved
