Florida’s July Employment Figures Released
TALLAHASSEE – Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July 2009 is 10.7 percent. This represents 987,000 jobless out of a labor force of 9,193,000.  The unemployment rate is unchanged from the revised June rate of 10.7 percent and is up 4.4 percentage points from the July 2008 rate.  The state’s current unemployment rate is 1.3 percentage points higher than the national unemployment rate of 9.4 percent.  Read more...

Florida Minimum Wage to Increase on July 24

Early Learning Services

AWI's Office of Early Learning is responsible for implementation of the state's Child Care Resource and Referral, School Readiness, and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) programs. Florida's VPK program includes high reading and writing standards, strict accountability, appropriate curricula, substantial instruction periods, manageable class sizes and qualified instructors.

Through the unemployment insurance program, AWI provides temporary wage replacement benefits to those who have lost their job through no fault of their own. Unemployed workers can use the Employ Florida Marketplace to find their next job or career field.
