FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Scarborough, ME -- May 8, 2003 --Hannaford Bros. Co. is recalling Hannaford Blueberry Muffin Mix because it may contain undeclared milk. People who have allergies to milk may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The recalled Hannaford Blueberry Muffin Mix, all lots and all codes, was sold in stores in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors revealed the presence of undeclared milk in Hannaford Blueberry Muffin Mix in packages which did not declare a milk ingredient on the label.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
Consumers who have purchased Hannaford Blueberry Muffin Mix should return any unused product to their nearest Hannaford store for a full refund.
