GLOBE Welcomes Estonian Students!
The GLOBE Program is delighted to welcome Estonia as its 36th partner country. The GLOBE agreement is being signed June 18, 1996 by Minister of Education Jaak Aaviksoo and U.S. Ambassador Lawrence Taylor. The ceremony is being held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Beginning in October, Estonia plans to involve 20 schools at all grade levels in GLOBE. Additionally, in 1997 and 1998, they plan to hold conferences for all Estonian GLOBE students to meet and exchange information about the program. Currently, the Estonian Government is sponsoring a major initiative to hook up all Estonian schools to the Internet.
