  • GLOBE Maldives Celebrates Implementation of the GLOBE Program 22 May 2007
    On 8 May 2007, in Malé, Maldives, United States Ambassador to the Maldives Mr. Richard Blake and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Mr. Richard Boucher, along with Mr. Ahmed Abdulla, Minister of Environment, Energy and Water, and Ms. Zahiya Zareer, Minister of Education, and the Deputy Ministers of both programs, held an official celebration to recognize the Maldives' implementation of the GLOBE Program.
  • GLOBE Bangladesh Celebrates Earth Day 17 May 2007
    GLOBE Bangladesh celebrated Earth Day 2007 with an art competition. Paintings from 150 Students between the ages of 10 and 15 answered the question "What is important to me about our environment?" Organized by GLOBE Bangladesh and Carter Wilbur of the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, the event took place at Dhanmondi Kochikantha High School.
  • Enhancing GLOBE through Partnerships 16 Oct 2006
    Recently, five out of ten student project proposals were awarded funding from the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology to participate in their Young Scientist Competition. The students at Princess Chulabhorn's College, Trang, are being mentored by GLOBE teachers, Ms Pongmanawut and Ms. Treechada Tawornmas. Ms Pongmanawut recently returned from Schenectady, New York, where she participated in an eight-month Teacher Exchange Program through AFS with support from the U.S. Embassy in Thailand.
  • Environmental Educator Advocates Experiential Learning 14 Oct 2006
    U.S. GLOBE Partner, Mr. Henry Ortiz of the Los Angeles Unified School District in California, led a series of lectures and informal discussions on ways to prepare environmental education curricula and to increase the efficacy of science teaching. The lectures were sponsored by the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, India.
  • GLOBE Director Visits Asia May 2006
    In May, Dr. Craig Blurton, Director of GLOBE, visited colleagues in Hong Kong, the People's Republic of China (PRC), and the Republic of Singapore to discuss implementing GLOBE in Hong Kong and Singapore and strengthening the program in the PRC.
  • Vice President of India launches the GLOBE-India Web site! 2 Dec 2004
    Mr. Rajinder Mehta, GLOBE Country Coordinator of India, was pleased to announce the unveiling of the GLOBE-India Web site on November 29th. The Web site was formally launched by the Honorable Vice President of India, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
  • India's Well-attended Multi-national Workshop
    More than 60 educators and scientists from India, Thailand and Nepal are attending a GLOBE international training workshop in New Delhi. The 7-day training workshop is being sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, GLOBE, and the U.S. Embassy, and coordinated with help from the Indian Environmental Society (IES).
  • GLOBE Reaches Great Heights in Nepal 12 Jan 2001
    Participants from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Thailand, New Zealand and South Korea joined Chuman Singh Basnyat, the Chairman of the GLOBE Implementation Committee in Nepal, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Ministry of Education and Sports, Narayan Prasad Sharma, Principal of Budhanilkantha School and Larry Dinger, the Deputy Chief of Mission of the US Embassy.
