GENOME SCHOLAR DEVELOPMENT AND FACULTY TRANSITION AWARD (K22) - RESTRUCTURED RELEASE DATE: November 14, 2002 NOTICE: NOT-HG-03-002 National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) (http://www.genome.gov) The purpose of this Notice is to alert the scientific community about changes in the NHGRI Genome Scholar Development and Faculty Transition Award (K22). Effective immediately, the NHGRI: (1) will not accept applications for Faculty Transition Awards only and (2) will only accept applications for the combined Genome Scholar Development and Faculty Transition Award that meet the following criteria: (a) the research must be primarily devoted to developing (rather than applying) new technologies or bioinformatics tools in the areas of genomics, proteomics or functional genomics; (b) the applicant must request a minimum of one year of postdoctoral support; and (c) the applicant must not have accepted a tenure-track position at the time of award. All other eligibility criteria remain the same. This program is currently undergoing review and this restructuring is an interim measure. The future of this program will be evaluated within the next twelve months by a group of scientists external to the NHGRI and by the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research.
