Montana's National Register of Historic Places sign program offers owners of National Register listed properties a unique opportunity. Support the heritage of your community by sharing the history of its special places through interpretive plaques designed exclusively for Montana. Applicants pay approximately 10% of the total sign cost. About $60 for an independently listed property or a listed district, slightly less for a contributing property within a listed district, buys a lifetime marker detailing the historic significance of the place. The remainder of the manufacturing cost is paid for through a portion of the Montana Historical Society's allocated Accommodations Tax.
