Your Core of Discovery...

Come explore when you join the Montana Historical Society

Children touring the Montana Historical Society

In 1805 when Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery arrived in what is now Montana, they encountered a vivid and lively world of thriving Native American cultures, unparalleled wildlife abundance, and raw beauty. Two hundred years later, we invite you to come discover the treasures that have helped preserve the memory and legacy of that world.

From atlatl throwing to blacksmithing to roping, you'll discover this mythic place at the Montana Historical Society. Workshops in historical preservation and genealogy, tours of the state Capitol and Original Governor's Mansion, and fascinating monthly lectures on Western history bring exciteent and fun to our heritage!
