Biography of Michael T. Rose

Michael T. Rose is president and founder of the Michael T. Rose Family of Companies, a firm recognized nationally as a well-respected, award-winning, and environmentally sensitive builder/developer in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Headquartered in Laurel, Maryland, the Michael T. Rose Family of Companies has been building and developing residential and mixed-use planned communities as well as custom homes in the suburban Maryland and Virginia since 1975. Michael T. Rose Family of Companies communities and homes are located in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Maryland, and in Fairfax, Loudon and Stafford Counties in Virginia. Michael T. Rose communities have added well over $2 billion to the combined local and state tax bases of both states.

The Michael T. Rose Family of Companies is comprised of several core companies: Rosemark DesignBuild, creators of exquisite custom and luxury homes; and its two development-related companies, MTR Land and MTR Consulting, with clients including large and small property owners from individual landowners to Fortune 500 companies.

The Michael T. Rose Family of Companies is nationally regarded as a leader in developing communities and creating homes that are environmentally sound and built in harmony with nature and their natural surroundings. The Michael T. Rose Family of Companies was instrumental in creating legislation to preserve trees in Prince George's County which has since become a model for similar legislation in the State of Maryland and throughout the United States. In addition, the Michael T. Rose Family of Companies has been recognized for its efforts to conserve nature and preserve trees by the American Forestry Association (AFA) and has been cited in numerous books, magazines and newspapers including the Washington Post for its environmental sensitivity in the development process.

Michael T. Rose has also earned numerous building and design awards for his communities and homes, as well as business and professional awards from industry and community associations for community service. A sample of these awards includes:

  • Stafford County (Va) Commendation by the Mountainview Rescue Squad

Michael T. Rose is an active member of the building industry. He is a past president of the Maryland National Capital Building Association, is a Life Director on the National Association of Home Builders Board of Directors and has served on the Executive Committee for the past 8 years. He was the founding Chairman of the Environmental Issues Committee of NAHB and was past chairman of NAHB’s Association Planning Committee, Public Affairs Committee, Land Development Committee, and its outreach and education program, Home Builders Care.

Mr. Rose is also an active supporter of efforts to find a cure for paralysis and spinal cord injuries. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Paralysis Association (APA), and Past President of the APA's Washington Chapter. He is a founding director for the National Coordinating Council on Spinal Cord Injury and is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Organization on Disabilities.

Mr. Rose also is active in local community efforts and several Advisory Boards ranging from the Boy Scouts to several area hospitals and community-based organizations throughout Suburban Maryland and the Greater Washington DC area.

Mr. Rose has also served as Chairman of the President's Advisory Committee on Housing for Handicapped Families for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and has earned a certificate of Special Recognition for this service.
