Biography of Tom Carew

Tom Carew is the Director of the Design and Construction Review Team as well as the Director of the Appalachian Housing Program for the Commonwealth of Kentucky's Housing Finance Agency, Kentucky Housing Corporation. Prior to his work with KHC he served for 25 years as Executive Director of Frontier Housing Inc, a non-profit corporation based in Morehead, providing Low Income families with Home Ownership opportunities in seven counties of North Eastern Kentucky (Rowan Bath, Carter, Elliott, Morgan, Menifee, Fleming).

Mr. Carew received an Honorary Doctor of Law degree from Fairfield University in 1992. He is the recipient of the Dorothy Williams Lifetime Achievement Award from Kentucky Housing Corporation the highest award given in the Commonwealth for non profit housing producers. During his tenure as CEO of Frontier Housing the organization received in 1998 the Maxwell Award for Excellence in Housing from the Fannie Mae Foundation.

As Director of KHC's Design Team Mr. Carew is responsible for the implementation of KHC's Universal Design Policy for both single family and multi family housing.
