Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee (LTFAC)

Home | LTFAC

How the LTFAC was formed

The Secretary of Agriculture established an advisory committee, chartered under the Federal Advisory Committee Act (5 U.S.C. App.) on July 17, 1998.  The Lake Tahoe Federal Advisory Committee is made up of citizens concerned with the environmental and economic health of the Lake Tahoe Region.  The purpose of the Committee is to provide advice to the Secretary of Agriculture and to the Federal Interagency Partnership on how the Partnership can best fulfill its duties pursuant to Executive Order 13057 and how to facilitate the integration and coordination of appropriate federal programs and funds to help achieve the goals of the Lake Tahoe Regional Environmental Improvement Program.

The advice of the Committee consists of the consensus of its members, representing the broad array of local, regional, state, and national interests.  The Committee Charter outlines the specific agencies/interests that are represented on the committee.  Members of the Committee serve without pay, but may be reimbursed for travel expenses.  The length of their term is two years.

Appointments to the Committee are made by the Secretary of Agriculture.  Equal opportunity practices, in line with USDA policies, are followed in all appointments to the Committee.
