GLOBE Stars in Pakistan

22 January 1999

The GLOBE Program in Pakistan got off to a strong start in June 1998 when students in Islamabad participated in a special GLOBE Web Chat held in celebration of World Environment Day. "The students really benefitted from the opportunity to communicate directly with GLOBE's Chief Scientist," said Imran Habib Ahmad, the GLOBE Country Coordinator for Pakistan. "They realize the important role that they can play in helping the world learn more about our country, while also contributing to a better understanding of our global environment."

In September, Pakistan students made history by reporting the first GLOBE data from a South Asian country. Students at a GLOBE school in Karachi are reporting atmospheric temperature and precipitation data on a regular basis.
