New El Niqo Maps Online!

Are you experiencing the effects of El Niqo? GLOBE students around the world are carefully tracking how this major shift in the ocean-atmosphere system in the tropical Pacific affects local weather.

To aid in this research, the GLOBE Web site now includes an extensive set of maps depicting both historical data and predictions of monthly average temperature and total precipitation. By clicking on these maps, you can zoom in to see what has happened and what is predicted to happen in any region of the world. You can click on a specific location, to obtain the numerical value of average monthly temperature and average monthly precipitation for that location. Click on Special Events in the new menu, and then click on "El Nino" from the list of ongoing events, to get an update from the GLOBE Chief Scientist and some new classroom Learning Activities.
