Suriname Joins GLOBE!
Suriname became the newest member of the GLOBE program on December 23, 1997. The GLOBE agreement was signed by Suriname Minister of Education Narainpersad Mahadewsingh and U. S. Ambassador Dennis Hays. The principal and teachers from the first Surinamese school designated to participate in GLOBE attended the signing ceremony at the Ministry of Education.Minister Mahadewsingh said the agreement signified Suriname's commitment to teaching children the importance and value of the environment. Through GLOBE, Minister Mahadewsingh noted, Surinamese children will have an opportunity to learn these lessons in tandem with children from around the world.
GLOBE welcomes the teachers and students of Suriname.
