Peru Joins GLOBE!
On July 10, 1997, the Director of the Peruvian National Environmental Council (CONAM), Mr. Gonzalo Galdos, and United States Ambassador Dennis Jett signed the GLOBE Agreement, making Peru a partner in the GLOBE Program. At the signing ceremony, which was broadcast on a Digitial Video Conference by the United States Information Agency, Ambassador Jett spoke about the importance of Peruvian student science measurements in studying the El Nino climate effects. GLOBE Director Tom Pyke congratulated the leaders of CONAM and the Ministry of Education for leading the implementation of GLOBE in Peru.
