12 million kids are overweight in the United States - signaling an unhealthy prescription for the future - physically & perhaps psychologically.
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you “Healthy Moments” from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
To stay at a healthy weight, children need to eat a variety of foods and be physically active. They need at least 60 minutes of activity a day.
Their diet should include healthy foods, such as: fruits, vegetables, low-fat milk products, lean meats, and whole grains. And, it should be low in saturated and trans fats, cholesterol, salt, and added sugar.
If you’re a parent, choose healthy foods for yourself and your kids will learn to like them too.
And for more tips, visit our website at NIDDK or majic1023.com. This is Dr. Griffin Rodgers. Join me next week for more “Healthy Moments.”
