GLOBE Welcomes Icelandic Schools
On May 30, 1997, Iceland became a partner in the GLOBE Program. Icelandic Minister of
Education Bjorn Bjarnason and Icelandic Minister of Agriculture and Environment Gudmundur
Bjarnason signed the GLOBE Agreement with United States Ambassador Day Mount at the Ministry of Education. GLOBE Director Tom Pyke was in attendence at the signing ceremony.Two Icelandic teachers plan to attend the International GLOBE Training Workshop in Cologne, Germany in June 1997. The two schools which will initially participate in GLOBE are Alftam}rarsksli, an elementary and lower secondary school located in Reykjavmk, and Fjvlbrautasksli Supurnesja, an upper secondary school located in Keflavmk.
