Course
Description:
This program will focus on understanding why the public may perceive risk differently from
government regulators and how to improve communication of technical and scientific issues. Topics include the basics of effective
communication, working with the media, town hall meetings, ways to lose the publics
trust, Seven Cardinal Rules for Risk Communication, and practical exercises.
Audience: Regulatory scientists, investigators,
supervisory and administrative personnel responsible for communicating with the public on
health and food safety issues
Course Level: Advanced
Objectives: Upon completion of this course,
participants will be able to:
