Healthy People 2000 is a cooperative federal-state-private sector initiative to improve the health of all Americans through prevention. The Department of Health and Human Services, along with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service, and state and local health departments have been working with groups throughout the country to help meet these Healthy People 2000 goals: increase the span of healthy life; reduce health disparities; and, achieve access to preventive services.

In this satellite broadcast, government officials and private sector experts will talk about the status of food and drug safety objectives for Healthy People 2000.
