- CPSC's Chairman Ann Brown standing next to crib and pointing out things and taking them out as she speaks about them: "Never put your baby to sleep in a crib with any soft bedding in the crib. Babies can suffocate in soft bedding so get it out of the crib, pillows, comforters, sheepskins. (Chairman taking baby from lady and putting it in the crib) Now, here's how you should put your baby to bed. Take your adorable baby and put him on his back on a firm, flat mattress, with no soft bedding in the crib and a crib that meets all CPSC standards." (Chairman finishes speaking)
- (Close-up of baby in play yard and adult looking in.) "Your baby may also sleep or spend time in a play yard. (Adult standing over play yard and putting a mat in.) New models should meet safety standards, but older models may have been recalled. (Adult checking play yard) If you're using an older play yard, make sure the side rails lock automatically and check for exposed hardware, that a baby's clothing could catch on."
- (Baby sitting in high chair and adult feeding him/her) "A high chair is another important piece of baby equipment you may be shopping for."
- (View of adult) "In 1999, more that 6,000 children (view of baby) were treated in hospital emergency rooms for high chair related injuries."
- (Close-up view of tray) "The new models have a double restraint system to (close-up view of restraint) keep your child safer. (close-up of bar) Look for this crotch strap and this tee bar to make sure the baby doesn't slip out."
