CPSC, ICON Health & Fitness Inc. Announce Recall of Exercise Gliders

(View of three exercise machines) In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission ICON Health & Fitness Inc. is recalling about 75,000 (view of a person on an exercise machine) Weider Shape Gliders, Weider Power Glide and Weslo Shape Trainers. (close-up view of bottom of exercise machine while in motion) An arm supporting the seat on these exercise gliders can disconnect during use. (view of machine falling apart) This can cause the rider to fall abruptly.

(Words being said are also on the screen, with picture of machines in the background) ICON Health & Fitness has received 105 reports of the seats of these exercise gliders suddenly falling, causing 95 injuries, including 13 fractured vertebrae and 16 bruised tailbones.

(View of glider with model number on screen) The Weider Shape Glider has a model number beginning with WECR4306 and is white with a black seat. (view of glider with model number on screen) The Weider Power Glide model begins with WECR4406 and is gray with a black seat. (view of glider with model number on screen) The Weslo Shape Trainer's model number begins with WLCR4356 and is black with a black seat. These gliders have serial numbers beginning with "G" and these numbers:(numbers are shown on screen)

(List of stores shown on screen) Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Kmart and other discount department and sporting good stores nationwide sold these exercise gliders from June 1996 through October 1997 for between 99 and 149 dollars.
