CPSC, Playskool Announce Recall to Replace Spillproof Cup Lids

(Lid being put on spillproof cup) In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Playskool (woman in kitchen with a cup in hand, going over and giving it to child) is recalling to replace lids for 273,000 spillproof cups. (close-up of spout) The flexible spouts on these cups can tear (view of woman with cup in hand) between the slitted opening, causing small pieces of material (view of spout and piece of spout in someone's hand) to come loose, which poses a choking hazard to young children.

(View of two children sitting in high chairs) There have been 115 reports of small pieces of the spout (view of a child drinking from a cup) tearing off these spillproof cups.

Playskool spillproof cups view of cups) have twist-on lids with flexible, yellow spouts. (view of the lid being taken off one of the cups) The lids come in various colors, and have "Playskool" written on them. (close-up of purple bottom of a cup) The bottom of the cups have the writing, "HASBRO," and "MADE IN CHINA." (view of three cups) There are seven different models of these cups. There are 6 and 8 oz spillproof cups, 6 oz. spillproof Trainer Cups with handles, (view of two cups) and 7 and 10 oz. Easy Grip Spillproof Cups. (view of two cups) Also, there are 6 oz. Spillproof Trainer cups with handles, and 8 oz. Spillproof Cups with imprinted Teletubby character decals. (both types of cups shown inside their packaging) The cups were sold in both single and two-packs.
