Dr. Alfred Gordon, Associate Director for Minority Health and Research in the Office of the Director, NINDS, has primary responsibility for planning, coordinating and directing the Institute's research and training programs designed to prepare and develop future minority neuroscience health and research professionals. A major goal is to develop and implement long-term strategies for the NINDS to reduce neurological disease health disparities in populations that are historically at increased risk for diseases and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system. Dr. Gordon is formally trained in molecular biology having extensive postdoctoral research experience at the NIH and FDA in molecular virology and cytokine growth factor expression in cancer pathogenesis.
