eLEXNET Training

Application Description:

The Electronic Laboratory Exchange Network (eLEXNET) is a seamless, integrated, secure system that allows multiple government agencies engaged in food safety activities to compare, communicate, and coordinate laboratory analysis findings. eLEXNET provides the necessary infrastructure for an early-warning system that identifies potentially hazardous foods and enables health officials to assess risks and analyze trends. eLEXNET is a program funded by the Food and Drug Administration and supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Department of Defense.


Course Description:

The objective of this course is to provide users with the ability to effectively use all of tools in the eLEXNET system that will assist them in day-to-day operations. eLEXNET provides support for communication and collaboration among food safety agencies. The features of the application allow food sample data sharing across federal, state, and local governments providing a valuable resource for risk assessment, data mining, work planning, and identifying test methods for food. The course includes step-by-step training for each module in the eLEXNET application. Training materials consist of a printable training manual and an interactive CD-ROM with computer based training modules.

Federal, state, and local government employees with positions related to food safety and security.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

•    Identify specific uses of the system.

•    Identify the secure methods for communicating with other members in eLEXNET.

•    Identify the available reports in eLEXNET.

•    Recognize how to create, and print standard reports.

•    Recognize how to view specific sample information using standard reports.

•    Recognize how to view geographic information about selected samples using the integrated ArcIMS Geographical Information System.

•    Recognize how to create, edit, and save ad hoc reports using the online analytical processing (OLAP) tool.

•    Recognize how to create sample product codes using the Product Code Wizard.

•    Recognize how to identify contacts for eLEXNET laboratories.
