Feeling that having a computer would allow them to more fully participate in the GLOBE
Program, these students decided to earn money to buy a computer by collecting and selling waste
paper and herbs. The students were able to collectively gather 279 kg of orange peels, 269 kg
of wild rose, 61 kg of nettle, 83 kg of birch leaves, 33 kg of coltsfoot
flowers and 1050 kg of waste paper. Now the students are sending their data directly to the
GLOBE Student Data Server via the Internet with their own computer.
The Zakladni Skola students have also been involved in the Air Pollution Project Europe program for five years, measuring and reporting the pH of precipitation. Their findings helped result in the switching of the the heating system in Telc from coal to gas fuel. Congratulations to these ambitious students for their wonderful accomplishments!
