The Seventh West Chester University - GLOBE Teacher Training Workshop got off to a great start October 16, 1996, with clear skies and beautiful weather. Twenty-seven teachers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina bubbled with excitement over the prospect of bringing "real science" into their classrooms.

The workshop was highlighted by a visit from Col. Yuri Malenchenko, a Russian cosmonaut currently working with NASA in Houston. Col. Malenchenko spoke with the participants about life as a cosmonaut, the importance of science in today's world, and the need for more programs like GLOBE.

The next GLOBE workshop at West Chester University is scheduled for April 29-May 2, 1997. The University will also host a GLOBE Reunion at the March 12-14, 1997 Satellites and Education Conference X.
