This site provides information
on our permaculture holding at Tir Penrhos Isaf. We have been working at Penrhos
(or Benthros, as it is known locally) since 1986 and been living here since
February 1992 when we gained temporary planning permission from the Snowdonia
National Park. Over that time we have continued to develop our permaculture
design for the holding through the practical application of the ethics and
principles of permaculture.
This work has been (and
still is) both hugely rewarding and incredibly challenging. We feel we have
learned an enormous amount, some of which is purely information based and
can be passed on through these pages. Other things we have learned are better
taught so we also run courses and visits. Details can be found by following
the links.
We have
kept the site deliberately simple, concentrating on the information.
We hope you
find this stuff useful.
These pages have been

About the site
We have concentrated on basic information
and experiences which we believe may be useful to others; these include in particular,
documentation relating to our planning applications, permaculture for horses
and wilderness regeneration. There are also articles and other references to
permaculture design in both the design and the
resources sections. These include information
and resources relevant to teachers of permaculture design.
We have not gone for any flashy stuff
although there are a few nice images, including maps,
aerial site photos and regen
pics.
Planned developments include
- further design details, mapping,
physical resources, financial perspectives
- lesson plans and handouts
- interactive learning resources
- other writings including fictions
