Grants

2008 Requests for Proposals

EPA funding supports grants in several pesticide related areas:

  1. Urban Initiative: prevent agricultural pesticide misuse in homes, schools, churches etc.
  2. Strategic Agricultural Initiative: supports FQPA-related projects for state and nonprofit organizations. Administered by each EPA Regional Office, the Initiative's projects emphasize the use and study of reduced risk pesticides and alternatives to pesticide use. The Initiative also seeks partnerships with regulatory agencies, industry and the agricultural community.
  3. Regional Initiative Grants (also termed Regional Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program Grants): support pollution prevention projects that are important to and complement ongoing efforts in EPA's Regional Offices.
  4. Tribal Pesticide Project Grants Both tribal and state continuing pesticide programs are funded through cooperative agreements between the tribe or state and EPA's Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA). In recent years grants have also been awarded for short term water quality and special pesticide projects.
  5. American Farmland Trust: jointly funds projects with EPA to solve environmental problems associated with agriculture.
  6. Resource and Development Grants

State Pesticide programs also receive cooperative agreement grant dollars to help meet enforcement and programmatic goals in each state. Some state pesticide laboratories receive revolving fund dollars to help update equipment and standards.
