OPM ASSIGNS VOTING RIGHTS EXAMINER TO ALABAMA
Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Jim King today announced the assignment of a Voting Rights Examiner to the State of Alabama for the Alabama Primary Run-Off Election being held there on June 25, 1996. Voting Right Examiners are federal employees assigned by OPM, under the authority of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, to receive complaints of racially discriminatory voting practices during specified elections.
Any registered voter or other citizen of the State of Alabama who wishes to lodge a complaint of racially discriminatory voting practices may do so by calling the Examiner at (334) 269-4472 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25; from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26; or from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 1996. Complaints must be received within 48 hours after the polls close.
