U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Jim King goes to Woodland Cemetery on Thursday to help a team of Americorps volunteers clean and restore the site.
King will join about 10 Americorps volunteers at 2:30 p.m. April 17 at the 22-acre historic cemetery, which is located at 4611 Benning Road, SE, Washington, D.C.
King is undertaking the task to emphasize the Clinton Administrations commitment to service and volunteer activity, as well as to underscore OPMs long tradition of involvement with the District of Columbia. Media, members of the public, and anyone wanting to pitch in to help clean the cemetery or learn more about such volunteer efforts are welcome.
Woodlawn Cemetery, the oldest integrated cemetery in the District of Columbia, is a National Historic Site.
