OPM Employees to hold "USO Style" Talent Show
Event aims to boost morale, collect CDs for USS Theodore Roosevelt crew

Washington, D.C. -- On January 31, the United States Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will hold a "USO style" talent show in OPM's Alan K. Campbell Auditorium. The show will be video taped and distributed to the crew aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt who are serving our country in the war on terrorism.

The talent show will feature dozens of OPM employees singing, dancing, playing instruments, and reciting poetry, among many other things. OPM attendees are encouraged to donate a music CD that will be sent to the ship, along with the video of the talent show.

"This talent show is a continued testament to the commitment of OPM employees to the crew of the USS Theodore Roosevelt," said Kay Coles James, Director of OPM. "The sacrifice made by the ship's crew hasn't been lost on anyone in the OPM family. The crew has been away from their family for nearly four months, fighting for our freedom."

OPM employees have been very supportive of the crew aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and their families, donating more than 800 toys for the children's Holiday Party, giving hundreds of videos, and sending holiday cards to the crew. OPM, which is housed in the Theodore Roosevelt Federal Building, officially "adopted" the USS Theodore Roosevelt late last year.

"We hope that the things we've done, such as our toy drive, Holiday card drive, and the USO style talent show will remind those aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt how much we appreciate what they are doing for us," Director James added.

OPM oversees the federal work force and provides the American public with up-to-date employment information. OPM also supports U.S. agencies with personnel services and policy leadership including staffing tools, guidance on labor-management relations and programs to improve work force performance.
