September 30, 1996: Washington, D.C. -- Graduate-level students who say a federal job is Awhat=s hot@ will welcome a push by the Clinton Administration to broaden the scope of the elite Presidential Management Intern Program. Under the White House initiative, the Presidential Management Intern (PMI) Program is actively recruiting graduate-level students from a number of academic disciplines, including accounting, health administration and international affairs.

September 27, 1996: A recently released profile of federal employees of Asian or Pacific Islander origins demonstrates that education has been their vehicle to greater professional opportunity. As of one year ago, the federal government employed 82,961 persons of Asian/Pacific Islander descent. [News Release]

September 24, 1996: OPM announced the 1997 Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program open season, which will run from November 11 through December 9, 1996. This year, premiums increased an average of only 2.4 percent. [News Release]

September 17, 1996: OPM announced the opening of its gateway to Federal jobs on the World Wide Web, the USA JOBS Home Page. This site provides the ability to search all of the Federal jobs listed by criteria such as type of job, location, and salary range, and provides information on applying for a government job. September 13, 1996: Washington, D.C.-- Finding the right federal job has been made Aa lot easier,@ according to U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Jim King who today announced the agency will unveil its Employment Information Homepage, AUSA JOBS,@ next Monday. [News Release]

September 9, 1996: Washington, D.C. -- Temporary federal employees who are receiving workers= compensation due to a workplace injury will have their return to gainful employment made easier under proposed regulations announced today by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Those affected by the proposal are individuals who sustain a workplace injury and, as a result, are unable to return to their former jobs.[News Release]

September 5, 1996: OPM announced the results of a survey which showed that an overwhelming percentage of users of the five largest managed fee-for-service plans in the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) prescription drug benefit program expressed satisfaction with the prescription drug service.
