May 27, 1998: U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Janice R. Lachance today announced the assignment of a Voting Rights Examiner to the States of Alabama, California, Mississippi, and New Mexico for the Primary elections being held on June 2, 1998, and to the State of North Carolina for the Primary Run-Off election also being held on June 2, 1998. May 15, 1998: Carol J. Okin, Associate Director, OPMs Office of Merit Systems Oversight and Effectiveness, has been honored by Vice President Gore as a recipient of the Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Executive for 1997. [News Release]

May 15, 1998: The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has issued a guide to help human resource professionals and management officials in federal agencies ensure that employees with legitimate supervisory duties are classified as supervisors. The guide also will help agencies identify employees whose more limited supervisory duties require they be classified as team or work leaders. [News Release]
