August 12, 1997:Janice R. Lachance, recently confirmed by the Senate as Deputy Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, will be officially sworn in as the agencys number two official at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 1997. [News Release]

August 8, 1997:The U.S. Office of Personnel Managements (OPM) four-year-old, free public access electronic bulletin board system--OPM Mainstreet--now has a new look and name. OPM ONLINE will debut August 11. [News Release]

August 8, 1997: Despite the significant downsizing of the federal governments workforce, Combined Federal Campaign contributions rose to $193,634,592, an increase over last years total of $189,323,151. [News Release]

August 5, 1997: Office of Personnel Management Director James B. King is leaving his position by Labor Day to assume a senior position at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. [News Release]
