Course: Leadership Academy

Target:  BLM managers. Supervisors with three years of experience are also eligible. All candidates must have completed 40 hours of supervisory training with a focus on human resources issues.

Goal:  Leadership Academy is a 3-part course delivered over the period of a year.  Participants must enroll in all three sessions.  The goal is to develop highly skilled managers who are continuously expanding their leadership skills.

CoreParticipants will assess their leadership capabilities and attend skill building sessions to foster continuous improvement; develop an understanding of all aspects of BLM's mission and the "hot issues" that might impact them at their locations; develop an understanding the business side of BLM; and learn how to anticipate and leverage changing priorities.2 weeks at NTC
Political RealitiesFocus on how to lead change in the organization based on changing conditions and political realities.  Participants will explore the political process that takes place on Capitol Hill, at the White House, in the Department of the Interior, and in BLM1 week in Washington DC
Visioning and CommencementFocus on managers' continuing growth and development as leaders.  It will include training modules on the role of managers in building partnerships and coalitions, cultural awareness, media relations, vision, and identifying future challenges.1 week at NTC
