calyThe U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has appointed Cale Young to the post of Senior Resident Inspector at the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant near Chattanooga, Tenn.

Young holds a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master’s degree in nuclear engineering from Texas A&M.

"Cale Young is a talented and dedicated professional with a strong commitment to safety," said Region II Administrator Luis Reyes. "He will work hard to help ensure that Sequoyah continues to meets the NRC’s high standards."

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors, and three of the NRC-regulated fuel cycle facilities in the U.S. have at least one resident inspector. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring major work projects and interacting with plant workers and the public.
