December 30, 1997: President Clinton has approved national and locality-based pay raises averaging 2.8 percent for the nations 1.4 million white-collar federal employees. [News Release]

December 18, 1997: Charities wishing to apply for participation in the federal governments Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) can now find the applications on the Office of Personnel Managements Website. OPMs site contains both a local and national 1998 model application with instructions. [News Release]

December 15, 1997: The Office of Personnel Management is sponsoring a seminar entitled Exploring Federal Child Care Strategies at the Teddy Roosevelt Building, 1900 E Street, Washington, DC, on Tuesday morning, December 16, 1997. [News Release]

December 10, 1997: Vice President Al Gore officially swore-in Janice R. Lachance as director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management today. President Clinton nominated Ms. Lachance in October to the four-year term as OPM Director. She was confirmed by the Senate on Sunday, November 9. [News Release]

December 10, 1997: U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Janice R. Lachance will host a roundtable discussion called One America: Conversations that Bring Us Together, at St. Benedict of the Moor Catholic Church in Pittsburgh as part of the Presidents Initiative on Race on Sunday, December 14. On Monday, December 15, Director Lachance will open OPMs new teleservice center at 1425 Forbes Avenue. [News Release]

December 5, 1997: The Presidents Pay Agent announced the extension of the locality-based comparability payments, known as locality pay, to certain non-general schedule employees in 1998. Included in the six governmentwide categories are members of the Senior Executive Service, administrative law judges, members of Boards of Contract Appeals, senior-level (SL) and scientific or professional (ST) positions, Foreign Service members and Senior Foreign Service members.
