Post-Doctorate Position in France: Coupling and uncoupling of monoaminergic systems and drugs of abuse

POST-DOCTORAL POSITION
AT THE «COLLEGE DE FRANCE», PARIS, FRANCE

Coupling and uncoupling of monoaminergic systems and drugs of abuse

A post-doctoral position is available at the Collège de France, in the center of Paris, at the UMR 7148 of the CNRS.

Research in our group is focused on the role of two monoaminergic receptors, 5-HT2A and 1b-adrenergic, on the coupling of noradrenergic, dopaminergic and serotonergic systems. We have recently shown that repeated treatments with drugs of abuse (amphetamine, cocaine, morphine and alcohol) uncouple noradrenergic and serotonergic systems via a non dopaminergic mechanism (Auclair et al. EJN, 2004; Salomon et al., PNAS, 2006; Lanteri et al., Neuropsychopharmacology, 2007).

Our project is to study the role of mu-opiate receptors on the uncoupling of noradrenergic and serotonergic systems induced by repeated treatments with alcohol. This project will take advantage of mice KO for the mu-opiate receptor (given by B. Kieffer, Strasbourg, France) and will use neurochemical (microdialysis), electrophysiological and behavioral technologies.

The position is open for up to three years ; monthly gross salary is about 3200€.

Candidates should have a PhD degree. Applications, including a CV, a list of publications, and the names and e-mails of two referees, should be sent by mail or e-mail to:
