Christopher Newport University will work with schools and teachers primarily in Hampton Roads/Tidewater, in Virginia. Our main thrust will be working with teachers and students in Grades 6-12. We believe that GLOBE fits in with our broad organizational goals by providing service to the local K-12 community and providing learning opportunities for our liberal arts and sciences undergraduate students, some of whom will go on to be teachers. We have also identified several goals for our GLOBE partnership which are to:

Strengthen research opportunities in science and education related to GLOBE for CNU students, both future scientists and future educators.

Strengthen ties with the secondary schools in Hampton Roads/Tidewater area through teacher workshops and collaboration on research

Provide ongoing opportunities for the integration of real-world phenomena into the undergraduate curriculum through measurement, analysis and synthesis of data pertaining to the Earth's environment
