Office of Information Management

Organization and Responsibilities

  • Office of the Director

    • Provide administrative and planning support for all OIM functions

    • Oversee function of Scientific Computing and Data Standards.

  • Data Standards and Scientific Computing

    • Facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of data standards to promote interoperability between information management

    • Facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of tools for access to and analysis of data used to support regulatory decisions

    • Participate in standards development and maintenance organizations

    •  Publish regulations, guidance documents and Manual of  Policy and Procedures (MaPPs) to support standards

  • Project Development Program

    • Facilitate the development of information management project proposals

    • Coordinate systems development projects

    • Standardize information management processes

    • Manage, design and development issues for non Office of Information Technology projects

  • Division of Records Management

    • Manage CDER paper document rooms

    • Provide data extraction and data entry for CDER's corporate database

    • Provide quality assurance for CDER's corporate databases

  • Business Information Staff

    • Determine Center reporting requirements as regulations, policies, and program needs change

    • Develop management reports needed on a continual basis from the corporate database

    • Provide additional data analysis and information to address specific questions and issues as they arise

    • Coordinate data and information requests (e.g., for Press Inquiries, Freedom of Information requests, Congressional reports, General Accounting Office and Office of Inspector General studies)

  • Review Technology Staff

    • Develop ongoing training programs

    • Provide tailored, on-site, just in time training

    • Facilitate efficient use of computing resources

    • Provide electronic submissions expertise

    • Assist organizations to meet specific local computing needs
