Latent Print Examinations—Preparing for a Daubert Hearing

Course dates to be announced

This one-week course is open to crime laboratory chemists who analyze fire debris. Attendees should have a BS degree in chemistry and be assigned to a forensic laboratory. Instruction is provided on the basic principles of the physics and chemistry of fire; collection and preservation of evidence from a fire scene; the recovery, isolation, and identification of ignitable liquid residues (accelerants) from fire debris; both instrumental and non-instrumental techniques in fire debris analysis; and interpretation of analytical results and report writing.
