Description: | National Public Lands Day, a program of the National Environmental Education Foundation, is the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands that Americans enjoy. In 2008, 120,000 volunteers are expected to plant trees and native vegetation, improve wildlife habitat, restore beaches and shorelines, build hiking trails and bridges, remove trash and invasive plants, and perform other important work projects on 1,500 parks and other public land areas across the nation. Join us as a volunteer on the 15th annual National Public Lands Day on September 27, 2008. Visit www.publiclandsday.org to find an event near you. |
