TOYOTA & National Public Lands Day

Toyota volunteers from San Antonio, Texas
Toyota volunteers from San Antonio, Texas help clean up their city during National Public Lands Day 2006.

The year 2008 commemorated the 10th anniversary of Toyota Motor Sales, USA's sponsorship of National Public Lands Day. For an entire decade, Toyota has not only sponsored National Public Lands Day, but has encouraged their employees to get involved in NPLD activities throughout the nation by helping to clean up parks, forests, rivers, beaches, shorelines, and other public lands. On September 27, 2008, thousands of Toyota employees volunteered at 31 different public land areas in 17 states.

Sponsorship of national and regional environmental preservation projects is just one of many areas in which Toyota has proven its environmental stewardship. Toyota operates under a Global Earth Charter that makes caring for the earth a priority. The company created the world's first mass-produced, clean-running gas/electric hybrid car, the Prius, which has received numerous environmental awards, most notably from the Sierra Club and National Wildlife Federation.

Toyota demonstrates environmental stewardship on National Public Lands Day when Toyota employees gather at worksites throughout the country to lend a hand to our public lands.
