Goal: Improve public health through advanced environmental health literacy
The focus of NEEF's Health & Environment Program is to advance environmental education and training for health professionals to improve health care and public health.
Through the development of national agendas, curriculum integration, and strategic partnerships, NEEF is a catalyst for incorporating environmental health into health care provider education and practice. Within our programs we place a special emphasis on protecting children and other populations disproportionately impacted by environmental pollutants.
NEEF has undertaken several projects to incorporate environmental health into health care provider education under the Health Care Provider Initiative. These projects include:
NEEF also collaborated with the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry to develop and publish Nurses and Environmental Health: Success through Action, Illustrations from Across the Nation (PDF).
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accepting applications for its Collegiate Leaders in Environmental Health summer internship program.
