ATTENTION PASSENGERS

Due to a coding error, the new Pace/CTA 7-Day Pass may become deactivated after 24 hours if it was used on Thursday, January 1 or Friday, January 2.

Passengers affected by this problem should continue to use the deactivated Pace/CTA 7-Day Pass as Pace will honor them through Sunday, January 11. Passes activated after Friday, January 2, will not be affected.

Pace will also honor the CTA 7-Day Pass during this grace period. Pace apologizes for any inconvenience.

New Bus, Vanpool Fares Effective January 1, 2009

Beginning New Year’s Day, Pace fares  increased on all fixed route service and vanpools.

The adult fare was increased to $1.75 on all regular, local, and feeder routes. Reduced fares, and fares for express routes, premium routes and shuttle routes, as well as pass prices, were adjusted accordingly. Vanpool fares were increased by 10% beginning with January invoices.

At the present time, there is no fare increase for ADA Paratransit service. For more information, including a list of all fares, please see Pace’s new fare table.

Also beginning January 1, 2009, Pace can no longer accept the CTA 7-Day Pass, Visitor/Fun Passes, or the U-Pass.

The new Pace/CTA 7-Day Pass

Passengers that need to use both Pace and CTA for travel are encouraged to consider the Pace/CTA 30-Day pass or the new Pace/CTA 7-Day Pass as alternatives.

This new pass is good for unlimited rides on Pace and CTA fixed route service for a period of seven days from the first use, and will be sold for $28 beginning in January.

The CTA will continue selling its own 7-Day Pass, which is valid only on CTA, so passengers that need to use both Pace and CTA should look for the Pace logo on their pass to ensure they are carrying the correct pass.

For sales locations, please consult CTA's web site.
