Figure 8.2 is titled "Past Year Serious Mental Illness among Adults Aged 18 or Older, by Race/Ethnicity: 2003." It is a bar graph, where the horizontal axis represents race/ethnicity, and the vertical axis represents the percentage with past year serious mental illness. There are seven race/ethnicity categories: white, black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Asian, two or more races, and Hispanic or Latino.

The percentage of adults with past year Serious Mental Illness was 9.5% for whites, 8.4% for blacks or African Americans, 8.9% for American Indians or Alaska Natives, 12.4% for Native Hawaiians or Other Pacific Islanders, 6.1% for Asians, 12.6% for persons with two or more races, and 9.0% for Hispanics or Latinos.
