Point of Origin State Code

This data standard adopts the NWCG State Code data standard to identify the state or equivalent entity at the point of origin of a fire.

NWCG data standards provide a specification that enables the common usage of data across wildland fire information systems. This data standard consists of the following:

• Meta-data definition – the rules needed to ensure the data format and data usage are standardized across automated systems. (Last updated: 6/2008) [27K, PDF]
• Standard data values – the actual standardized data used by the wildland fire community, often provided as a pick-list or look-up table. (Last updated: 10/2007) [10K, PDF]
