Figure 8.9 is a stacked bar graph showing past year need for and receipt of specialty treatment for any illicit drug or alcohol use among persons aged 12 or older during 2002. Among persons aged 12 or older, 3.3 percent needed specialty treatment for illicit drugs; this 3.3 percent is broken down into 0.6 who received specialty treatment for illicit drugs, and 2.7 percent who did not. Among persons aged 12 or older, 8.0 percent needed specialty treatment for alcohol; this is broken down into 0.7 percent who received specialty treatment for alcohol and 7.3 percent who did not. For this same population, 9.7 percent needed specialty treatment for alcohol or illicit drugs, which is broken down into 1.0 percent who received specialty treatment for alcohol or illicit drugs, and 8.7 percent who did not.
