Figure 8.8 is a bar graph that shows the substances for which persons aged 12 or older received treatment in the past year in 2002. Over 2.2 millions persons received treatment for alcohol, approximately 970,000 received treatment for marijuana, 800,000 received treatment for cocaine, 360,000 received treatment for pain relievers, 280,000 received treatment for heroin, 275,000 received treatment for hallucinogens, 270,000 received treatment for stimulants, 200,000 received treatment for tranquilizers, 160,000 received treatment for sedatives, and 140,000 received treatment for inhalants.
